GRANITE
Granite is formed from cooling of molten rock over millions of years and comes in a huge variety of colours. The minerals, temperature and the rate at which the rock cools down determine the colours and patterns of granite.
GRANITE – FEATURES
Available in a wide range of colours including many different patterns within blacks, greens, yellows, reds, browns & light greys. The patterns can vary from a consistent speckled appearance (e.g. Eagle Black) to a lot of movement (e.g. Kashmir Gold). These variations are characteristic and add to its appeal and value.
Worktops are made to order enabling any shape or curved detail to be achieved e.g. Breakfast Bars, Islands, Tops etc.
GRANITE – BENEFITS
Granite is an excellent choice for your work surface and no other product on the market comes close to the richness, the elegance, the diamond polish, and the naturally organic quality that is in granite. Tests have proven that granite is one of the most hygienic worktops on the market due to the natural hardness and low porosity and is the natural choice for food preparation areas and suits both traditional and contemporary kitchen styles.
Granite is attractive and appealing to the eye. It’s hardwearing and tough characteristics adds immeasurable value to its longevity. Its diamond polish finish allows easy cleaning and quick maintenance. Resistant to scratching and staining in normal kitchen duties. Each worktop is produced to order thus allowing creativity for you to design your own special features.
POINTS TO CONSIDER
Granite is a natural material and therefore variations can appear within slabs. A sample is only an indication and not necessarily fully representative of the whole slab. If you are concerned about this, we recommend you visit our factory and you can personally select the slabs of your choice for your worktop.
The positioning of joints is determined by slab size availability, material type and access to area of installation. Every effort will be made to minimise the number of joints in your worktop. If you are concerned about this, we recommend you be available to discuss this at survey stage or contact us before production commences.
Some granites have certain characteristics like micro-cracks, which may appear in certain materials e.g., Baltic Brown, Angola Black, Emerald Pearl, Ubatuba to mention a few. These are not inferior in quality and are treated at manufacturing stage. If you wish to discuss this please do so with our technical people.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF YOUR GRANITE
Please follow these simple guidelines for the daily care of your granite & marble.
The area of granite at the front of your sink and hob is narrow and therefore care must be taken. Do not kneel or stand on this area (e.g. when cleaning your window or cooker hood). Granite is heat resistant, however we advise not to place excessive hot pans on the surface.
Clean your granite worktop with clean hot soapy water to remove surface dirt. Rinse off with clean water and polish with a soft clean cloth. Avoid the use of bleach, abrasive or strong detergent cleaning materials. Spillage’s such as wine, oils, strong coloured foods and acidic substances should be wiped clean immediately to prevent the possibility of staining.
